Students from all over come to Wildlife Safari to gain experience for school and possible future careers. The Job Shadow program passes on our message of conservation and education by allowing students to work alongside Safari staff. Through this working experience, it is hoped that every student gains an understanding of how important zoos are to protecting and conserving wildlife.
The Job Shadow program allows students to work with Safari staff from most areas including Carnivores, Cheetahs, Ungulates, Education, Village, Horticulture, or the Veterinary department. Students assist with all daily chores, activities and projects.
This program is designed for high school juniors, seniors and colleges students. To be eligible for Job Shadow, you must be meeting a class, school, or graduation requirement and submit an essay. The essay needs to include a brief biographical sketch, what draws you to Wildlife Safari, what you hope to learn and how this experience may impact your future career path.
The Job Shadow program is $95 per participant, but through a $75 discount made possible by educational grants, your out of pocket expense will be $20.
For those without a school contract or don't otherwise qualify, please inquire at Guest Services about our Half-day with a Ranger Encounter (see Get Inside Events for additional information).
