The Wildlife Safari Team prides itself on positive interaction and enrichment with our animals.  We would like to share some of these experiences with you.

We have a world-renown Cheetah breeding program, one of only two AZA Accredited facilities with hands-on elephant experiences in the country, up-close and personal lion viewings and over 600 animals to see in our drive-thru.

Newest “Kids on the Block"

Saturday, August 2nd

11:00 in Safari Petting Zoo

Come join us on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00am as the Wildlife Safari welcomes our newest additions to the Safari Petting Zoo.  The newest “Kids on the Block”  Loki and Echo, are two Dwarf Nigerian Goats born at the Safari on July 12th.  The proud mommy is Sadie, and would love to show off her new little ones to everyone.  Snowball, also a new addition to the Petting Zoo, would love to show you her new home!  Welcome them in style by bringing a gift of rubber feed pans, Jolly Balls, Kong Toys, plastic pitch fork, buckets or salt block holders.  Refreshments will be served to all their guests.  The Wildlife Safari Petting Zoo is open seven days a week for petting, viewing and feeding,  Mondays thru Thursdays, the goat area is open for interaction from 10:00-12:30.  For additional information, please call Wildlife Safari Guest Services at 679-6761 ext 203.

BEAR LECTURE OPPORTUNITY

AT WILDLIFE SAFARI

Benjamin Kilham, author of the best seller Among the Bears and renowned expert on North American Black Bear Rehabilitation whose work has been showcased by both National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, is making a special guest appearance at Wildlife Safari in Winston, OR for a day of lectures.  Please join us for this extraordinary experience!  Come hear wonderful stories and unique insights into the lives of North American Black Bears from a man who loves them as much as their own bear mothers and then tour our 600 acre wildlife park with more than 500 animals roaming freely as they would in the wild.  Saturday, August 9th, lectures will be at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm in the Frank Hart Discovery Theatre. Admission to either lecture is a $10.00 donation.  Please RSVP as soon as possible as seating will be limited.  Call Wildlife Safari Guest Services at (541)679-6761 ext 203 to reserve your seat now!

Bears:

  • The Bear Area will be open for drive-thru, seven days a week.  In the mornings, the Little Boys Mak, Victor and Oso will be out until about 1:00.  Then they will be put up and the Big Bears, Michael, Russell and Claire will be coing out for the rest of the day!

Lions:

  • Lion Area is Drive-By only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.
  • Due to MAJOR CONSTRUCTION - THE LION AREA WILL BE DRIVE BY ONLY JULY 7th thru JULY 17th.  Thank you for your patience.

FEAST OF KINGS: Watch the Lions eat their lunch every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:30.  Sign up at Guest Services by 11:15 and we will give you all the details.  $10.00 per adult / $6.00 ages 4-12 / under 3 no charge.  DON'T MISS OUT ON SEEING OUR LIONS FEAST!

  • Cheetah Drive-Thru will be open 7 days a week

Photos with "Taini" our ambassador Cheetah:

  • Photos will be available with Taini by appointment only.  Photos are take in Safari Overlook, which is our manicured park-like setting overlooking the Safari Rangeland. You will recieve a personal encounter with Taini, get to hear abour her and learn some cheetah facts. There will be no petting, but you will have a close-up experience and are welcome to ta ke photos of your own. You will recieve an 8x10 and two 4x6 photos of you and Taini.  The entire photo encounter is $100.00 per group.  Additional prints are available for $10 per print.  The photos will be ready shortyly after the photo encounter.  A portion of the proceeds from all pictures will go to Cheetah Conservations Fund in Namibia.  CCF is helping to save wild cheetahs and was founded by Laurie Marker who began her career at Wildlife Safari.  The entire photo encounter will last between 10-30 minutes, depending on Taini's attitude.  Please call Guest Services at 679-6761 ext 203 to make an appointment.

Village Animals Show "Amazing Race" in Discovery Theatre :

The Village Animals will be starring in the "Amazing Race" on Saturdays & Sundays at 2:00 pm.  This show is well worth the time! You will love it!

The Village Show will be at 2:00 in Discovery Theatre on Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays

Safari Petting Zoo:

The Safari Petting Zoo is open 7 days a week for petting, viewing and feeding.  Mondays thru Thursdays  the goat area is open for interaction from 10:00-12:30. Animals featured in the Safari Petting Zoo are (1) Watusi Calf, (1) Llama, (4) goats (babies coming soon), (1) blacktail deer.. They are just waiting for you to come pet them!

Smokin' Hippo BBQ:

Winter Season: Labor Day thru May 15th

The Smokin' Hippo BBQ will be open Fridays & Saturdays 11:00am - 4:00 pm and Sundays from noon-4:00 pm. 

May 15th thru Labor Day Weekend:

The Smokiin' Hippo BBQ will be open Monday thru Saturday from 11:00-4:00, Sundays noon-4:00.

January 2nd thru February 28th

Smokin' Hippo BBQ will be closed
